About

There is generally nothing much to say bout me apart from the fact that I am a pessimistic optimist with nearly-ridiculous life goals. I have a late epiphany-like realization of my life goals in which I am still trying to build up with so little time and so little resources, but it's never too late for that. This might also explain the obsession of trying to encourage friends with tremendous talents and passion to pursue for art and the likes.

ON WRITING
I started writing when I was thirteen. I remember correctly it was about a serial murder on a cruise ship closely associated by a set of tarot cards bought by one of the main characters. And then I started writing for fun on school exersice books and distributed them for my school friends to read. I was sixteen when I started writing songs, which most of them I don't remember anymore. I was twenty one when I started writing poetry, specifically Malay. I am twenty-four and I'm still writing for fun, hoping that one day I would be able to release a shitty book with tangible messages.

ON MUSIC
I'm not so much of a talent in music, but I've still got time to improve. My family breeds musically-interested people, so I grew up being in love with music myself. I took piano classes when I was a kid, but as a kid I don't really appreciate the wonders of what piano could bring, but luckily I stopped after I've learned and partially mastered to control both hands and the family notes thing that I never seem to be able to explain as I understood it by practical means and self taught. I secretly taught myself to play guitar when I was 12, with my dad's old guitar which he rarely touched. I fell in love with piano again after a while, but I played by ear most of the time with whatever knowledge left of me. I still play the guitar, though, to help me arrange the songs I wrote - which are as sucky as my face.

ON FILMMAKING
I have never made a film. I used to love doing montage videos back then in 2007 when Sony Vegas was still the hippest video editing application. I stopped making videos when I enrolled in matric and uni, though I've done several video-editing jobs for faculty activities. My desire to make films started when I made scripts for fun, and Yasmin Ahmad as well as several Wong Fu videos had pushed me a little further. I gathered a small crew whom was just as interested in making this thing work and our production team, Pencherita was born. We filmed our first short movie in 2013 despite the lack of equipement and it is still pending in editing works. We had a few more to film in 2014.

But in summary, hello, my name is Steff Phi. I am a Dayak and I love One Piece.
